Demi Moore is a proud mom to three daughters: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah Willis, but during a stop at The Jennifer Hudson Show, the actress explained that unless she's asked, she's not giving out any parenting advice to Rumer, who has a 17-month-old daughter, Louetta. When host Jennifer Hudson asked whether or not Moore offers up any sage advice, since she's been through all the ups and downs of motherhood, she explained that she knows that there are situations where it's better to stay quiet.

"You know what I have learned? Is that you do not give advice unless you are asked, in general," Moore said.

She went on to share that Rumer is an amazing mom and that she's happy to share her experiences if she's asked to share.

“First of all, she is a wonderful mother and I am so proud of her,” she said. “She is really incredible. And if I am asked, I am happy to share my experience, strength, and hope. But if I am not, it is better that I just keep my mouth shut.”

It's a learning experience, she added, because she wants Rumer to experience motherhood in a way that's right for her—but she did joke that sometimes, she does know better.

"As a parent, you have to give your children, I think, the dignity of their own process," Moore continued. "Sometimes they need to find their own way. Even if I'm right, and often I am...but that doesn't make her wrong."

Moore finished by noting that as a parent, she feels that the most important thing isn't to "rescue" her kids, but to let them grow, even if that means making mistakes.

"For me, I feel like my job is just to love my children and to give them the room to be who they are,” she said. "Rescuing our children, which is our intuitive instinct, isn't always the best thing. You have to give them the room.”
