Whoopi Goldberg Has Unexpected Reaction to Gift From Amy Schumer

Whoopi Goldberg is no stranger to unusual conversation starters—the veteran host of The View regularly discusses what’s happening in the cultural zeitgeist on the morning show.

But Goldberg was stunned into silence after Amy Schumer, who was visiting the show to promote her latest project, gave her a very unusual gift.

Schumer stopped by Feb. 3 episode of The View to chat with the hosts about her new movie, Kinda Pregnant, and brought along gifts to share with the panel. However, they were not expecting her to present them with fake pregnancy bellies.

The gifts were in line with the premise of the film, which hits Netflix on Feb. 5, in which a woman fakes a pregnancy out of jealousy over an expectant friend. However, Goldberg was seemingly unsure how to react when Schumer presented her with the pink waist bag, shaking it in confusion.

“Just strap them right on,” Schumer instructed as Goldberg looked on for over a minute before cutting to commercial.

When the show returned, Goldberg had managed to regain her signature sense of humor and placed the pregnancy belly on top of her head. She started the segment, throwing to co-host Ana Navarro, prompting Sara Haines to joke that “Whoopi's carrying very high.”

Schumer’s silly antics have been going on all week as she promotes her film. On Feb. 1, she surprised fans at a New York Knicks game when she jumped onto the court and joined the Knicks City Dancers in a choreography to the tune of Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl.”

The dance was a reference to Schumer’s 2015 romantic comedy Trainwreck, in which her character did a similar routine to win back her love interest, a sports doctor played by Bill Hader.
