Whoopi Goldberg Tells Critics to 'Sit Down' in Heated Response to Grammys Outrage
Whoopi Goldberg had strong words for critics who claim Beyoncé didn't deserve to win Best Country Album at the 2025 Grammys for Cowboy Carter.
On the Tuesday, Feb. 4 episode of The View, Goldberg addressed comments made by author Raymond Arroyo on Fox News regarding Beyoncé's win. Arroyo complained about the "Texas Hold 'Em" singer having more Grammys than such white artists as Dolly Parton and Frank Sinatra, crediting her album's success to a situation where "Lady Gaga's cat sitter votes for Best Reggae and Best Country Album."
"Sir, are you aware that you have to be in the music industry to be a Grammy voter? So, the cat sitter can't just vote," Goldberg said in response. "Are you aware that when the Grammys began in 1959, there were only 28 categories, now there are 94? The year that Frank Sinatra got six nominations despite having two No. 1 albums, he only won one Grammy that night for his album cover—not even for his singing, for the album cover. Listen, man. You can't do that. She earned it."

The Ghost actress went on to slam Arroyo for holding "on to country music like white people didn't also buy her country album."
"Come on, man! People voted for it. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. Same with the Oscars," Goldberg said. "Sit down!"
Beyoncé was the first ever Black artist to win Best Country Album at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 2. Cowboy Carter also earned Beyoncé her first Album of the Year award—the first time a Black woman won the award since Lauryn Hill in 1999.
