Where Is ‘Today’s Sheinelle Jones? The Host Is MIA From the Show’s Third Hour

The Today show started airing in 1952 and since then, it has built a dedicated following of viewers. Whenever a host is out, fans notice right away and are understandably concerned. On Monday, Oct. 21, viewers all wondered the same thing: Where is Sheinelle Jones on Today?

For Today's third hour, there are typically four hosts. They include Jones, Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Craig Melvin. Jones, however, was mysteriously missing from Monday's episode. In her place, Savannah Sellers filled in.

Those trying to figure out what Jones was MIA likely didn't turn up much online. she last updated her Instagram grid on Oct. 9 and didn't mention to her followers ahead of time that she would be out.

It's possible the mom of three took a day off for personal reasons, whether to rest or because of sickness. Jones may also have other work obligations to tend to. Because Today didn't share why she was out for the day, viewers likely won't know what happened unless Jones opts to share.

Another possibility for Jones missing from Today could be to promote her upcoming book. In September, Jones announced she wrote a book titled Through Mom's Eyes, hitting shelves on April 15, 2025.

Jones described as an "inspiring collection of heartfelt life-lessons from hard working moms who raised some of our favorite celebrities" via Instagram. They include the moms of Steph Curry, Shaq, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lady GagaMatthew McConaughey, the Wahlbergs, Tyra Banks, Thomas Rhett, Rob Gronkowski, the Jonas Brothers, Jessica and Ashley Simpson, Serena and Venus William and more.

"In addition to their moms, many of my friends contributed lessons they learned from their mothers - including Billie Jean King, my today show fam, chef Marcus Samuelson, Andy Cohen, Colin Jost, Mario Lopez, CeCe Winans and so many more," Jones added. "It truly is my love letter to mothers. I also talk a lot about my journey - from growing up in Kansas …. to the Today Show. You can order it in my bio. I hope you love it. 💗💗."

Hopefully, viewers will see Jones back on Today soon!
