There was a lot to digest in yesterday’s episode of Game of Thrones, and if you haven’t watched it yet, I suggest you get cracking and skip this article because there are spoilers galore.

Amidst the hook-ups, break-ups and deaths which littered the episode were some subtle moments, and major foreshadowing you may have missed.

Here are the six most important things you probably overlooked.

1. Missandei’s last words, and a throwaway comment spell trouble for Daenerys

Right before Cersei gives her the Ned Stark treatment, Missandei chooses Dany’s infamous ‘Dracarys’, or “burn them” as her final words.

This is not only a verbal middle-finger to Cersei, but another heavy hint that Dany is going mad.

These words from her best friend give the dragon queen a direct impetus to burn the city and it’s occupants to the ground, a move made famous by her late, crazy father.

This comes on the back of an uncomfortable joke made by Tormund at the feast, a joke which screams ‘FORESHADOWING’.

“What kind of person climbs on a f**king dragon?” he says to John. “A madman or a king?”

If Jon’s the rightful king, then that makes Dany...

Oh. Yikes.

It follows up expressions of concern for Dany’s sanity both from advisors Varys, and the ever suspicious Stark women.

2. Dany could be facing death from inside

A candid conversation between Varys and Tyrion in Daenerys’ throne room could spell disaster for Dany going forward.

The two men discuss Dany’s claim to (and suitability for) the throne, after Sansa spills the beans on Jon’s parentage quicker than he could say ‘don’t tell anyone’.

Varys heavily hints he would be willing to kill the queen if it would be good for the realm, meaning Cersei and her band of creepy men might not be the only threat she’ll have to face.

3. The dragon going down shouldn’t have come as a surprise.

The death of at least one dragon at the hands of Cersei has been foretold all season in the opening animation, so shame on all who skip the credits.

The sequence alters slightly from episode to episode, but this season has shown one thing consistently throughout; Cersei’s jumbo crossbow that almost took Drogon down last season.

Game of Thrones doesn’t do anything by mistake - usually - and it’s inclusion had many already convinced a dragon was going down on the march down South.

Didn’t make it easier though.

RIP Rhaegal.

4. Arya and The Hound’s road trip might be the episode’s most important moment

Arya and the Hound get the band back together towards the end of the episode and head south on the reunion road trip we’ve all been hanging out for, but it’s not all death wishes and destruction for the chummy pair- there’s a serious mission afoot.

The Hound tells Arya he has ‘unfinished business’ to attend to, and she says she does as well.

What - you might ask - could the girl who just killed the Night King have left to do?

Complete her kill list for one, at the top of which is Cersei’s name.

The Hound also has a final showdown pending, with his brother the Mountain.

How convenient that the Mountain is Cersei’s personal bodyguard...

The duo’s trip, therefore, spells out a very probable ending for the series greatest villain, and her freaky buddy.

5. Euron might be out of there quick smart

When Tyrion attempts to talk his sister down from killing Missandei in the episode’s final moments, he implores her to think of her unborn child.

Now, Euron might have been dumb enough to believe Cersei’s baby is his, but even he must be wondering how her estranged brother knew about a pregnancy that was only broken to him hours earlier.

Then again this is Euron we’re talking about and he’s exactly not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Still, if Cersei’s own lies end her allegiance with the Greyjoy fleet, it would be sweet indeed.

6. What they missed this episode

It’s been said one thousand times but it’s too good not to re-hash.

This episode the impeccable fantasy world was shattered for an instant by a sneaky takeaway cup who popped in to join the celebrations.

It’s an easy mistake but with a reported $15 million budget per episode, fans were understandably displeased.

Lots to mull over as we await the series penultimate episode next week.

Until then.
