Song: “Story of My Life” by One Direction

Michael said: “I met Niall Horan at close to about your age and he was electric already, so I wanted to do something where I was paying tribute to that potential and greatness. Some people just got it and we can’t explain it. There’s no way to articulate it. The lights turn on and they just glow. I’m so proud of you. Shye was absolutely perfect. Her voice is stunning. It is unique. It is needed because in a world where so much is the same, we need Shye.”

Team Bublé: Jaukeem Fortson

Song: “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson

Michael said: “You have the ability at 14 years old to execute. The way you sang the song, the way you chose the notes, I just kept getting up and going, ‘Oh!’ You just filled this whole place up with love. Way to go, Jaukeem. Jaukeem is the complete package. At 14 years old, he already has a seasoned voice, a wonderful presence on stage. There’s just no limit to where he can go.”

Team Bublé: Sloane Simon

Song: “Good Luck, Babe” by Chappell Roan

Michael said: “I know how brave you are. I know you and your family are going through stuff. You just lost your dad. You said you would stay because he wanted you to be here.”

Sloane said: “My dad said I was crazy to turn back, so I’m here and I sang for him.”

Michael continued: “No. 1, I love you. No. 2, I thought your performance was marvelous. No. 3, I know your dad must be so proud of you. I can’t really express in any words how highly I think of you and how amazing I think what you’ve done today is. It is a testament to her strength that she’s here and I have no idea how she found the inner strength to do what she did.”

Song: “Exhale (Shoop Shoop) by Whitney Houston

Michael said: “I have nothing but love and reverence and respect for you. This coaching thing changes for everybody. Sometimes you talk more than you listen but with you, I’ve had the opportunity to just listen. It is so attractive to watch someone who is so at peace in front of people. It is such a gift to an audience. I love you and thank you. I thought Cameron’s performance was elite. There was such a sense of self-control and understatement that I can’t tell you how much I appreciate as an artist.

Team Bublé: Sofronio Vasquez

Song: “Crying” by Roy Orbinson

Michael said: “I love being part of the evolution of Sofronio. The first time I heard you, bud, I knew we were right for each other. You worked your ass off, my man. His performance vocally was flawless. I was dumbfounded by his ability to reach and connect to an audience.”

Then it was time for Michael to decide which two of his artists were going to the Live Shows.

The first artist that Michael selected to advance to the Live Shows was Sofronio Vasquez.

“His growth has been exponential,” Michael said. “He is a superstar. Everything about him. I am so excited to see what this young man has in store for us.”

Michael’s second and final choice was Shye.

“I think Shye may be one of my favorite voices I’ve ever heard,” Michael said. “She executed even better than I expected. Her voice is just stunning. There’s a quality that she has that reminds me of my favorite singers, from Adele to Ella Fitzgerald, to Sarah Vaughn. There’s this wonderful richness and depth. If you have what Shye has at 17, you are one in a million.”

The Voice airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, and streams next day on Peacock.
