Wawa Just Brought Back the Menu Item Fans Wait All Year For

The day after Thanksgiving starts a bit early this year.

Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away, meaning we’re close to one of my favorite food holidays—the day after. That’s when the Thanksgiving leftovers come out, and they turn into all sorts of deliciousness, including a Thanksgiving sandwich—leftover turkey, stuffing, jellied cranberry sauce, and mayo on toast.

That’s how I make a Thanksgiving sandwich. But the ingredients can change from person to person. Some people add mashed potatoes to the mix. Others may add gravy. As long as there are Thanksgiving leftovers in there, it’s a legitimate Thanksgiving sandwich.

But Wawa, a convenience store with over 1,000 locations on the East Coast, doesn’t want its customers to have to wait until after Thanksgiving to experience the flavor combination of the sandwich.

Wawa Brings Back Gobbler Hoagie Sandwich and Gobbler Bowl

Wawa’s homage to the Thanksgiving sandwich is the Gobbler Hoagie, released at least a month before Thanksgiving. Now it (along with a few variations) is back at Wawa—and fans are just as excited as Jason Kelce is in this promotional video.

The Gobbler Hoagie comes on a hoagie roll stuffed with hot turkey, gravy, stuffing, and cranberry sauce—very similar to my Thanksgiving sandwich. You can also order the Hot Gobbler with only mashed potatoes, turkey, and gravy or the Hot Turkey Gravy, which is only meat and gravy.

The Gobbler is also available as a cold sandwich, topped with turkey and stuffing, and the fan-favorite Gobbler bowl, which is essentially an entire Thanksgiving meal complete with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, turkey, and cranberry sauce.

However, the beauty of the Gobbler is that it—just like most of Wawa's menu items—is fully customizable. Simply search Instagram, and you’ll find dozens of posts with Gobbler configurations to try this season. “It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The #wawagobbler is back baby! I’m partial to the cold version with some of their hot honey,” posted inluvwithluv475.

So, if you’re near a Wawa yourself and don’t want to wait until Thanksgiving to taste its deliciousness, pop in and get a Gobbler, whichever way makes your heart happy.
