Watch Snoop Dogg Channel the Gangster Holy Ghost for Help in Picking the Knockout Winner on 'The Voice'
On Monday night, the Three-Way Knockouts return to The Voice as each coach has to match up three members of their teams for a sing-off that will put one of their artists through to the Playoffs and send at least one home.
It’s at least one because coaches Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani and Michael Bublé will each get one Save to keep an additional member of one of their Knockouts on their team. In addition, they will also get one Steal.
In this early look at the first night of Knockouts, Team Snoop’s Austyns Stancil sings Luther Vandross' "Dance with My Father," Christina Eagle takes on Maren Morris' "My Church" and Jake Tankersley sings Luke Combs' "Going, Going, Gone."
For the Knockouts, the artists select their own song, so they are picking material they are comfortable with and from the comments, it shows.

When all three had finished performing, Reba asked Austyns, “You were spirit filled. Somebody upstairs you’re missing?”
“My father,” he replied. “I lost him and I’m so happy to be here to sing this song in front of you guys.”
Then Reba continued, “It’s so amazing how healing music is. Your dad’s not with us, my dad’s not with us, so this is a song that goes close to the heart. Christina, you had us all up. We were going to church. I loved the way you bounced around on stage. You were having fun with it. Jake, you’ve got a great round big voice. It was very fun to listen to you sing.”
Then it was Gwen’s turn. “Austyns was on my team. When you came in on that first verse, that part of your voice was probably my favorite part of your voice but then when you go up in your head voice, it’s so unexpected and you do it so strong, really good job. Good job.”
She continued, “Security might have to come get me because I’m a super fan of Christina. That was a crazy performance to have that kind of personality and charisma on stage. I can’t believe you’re not signed. I think you’re really special. Jake, your low tone is just so signature. It’s a popular song, but it sounded as if you wrote the song. They are all so different, I don’t know how you choose Snoop.

The critiques continued with Michael: “You three are a perfect example of why Snoop is so great for The Voice. Jake, I want to be like you. I might go home dressed like you. There might be a Bublé-by No. 5 coming if I do that. You killed it out here today, bro. Christina, I love watching people become superheroes on stage. All of a sudden the mic goes in your hand, the light goes on and you become Wonder Woman. And Austyns, you just came out and sang one of the great songs from Luther Vandross and, dude, you need to be special if you’re going to do that. If I was Snoop, I would probably have to pick you.”
Finally, it was time for their coach to weigh in.
“Brother Austyns, we talked about when you sing think about the great times you had with your dad,” Snoop said. “Bring that spirit to the stage. We felt you. Reba was crying, I was crying. I am trying to hold them [tears], push them back up, but there’s nothing I can do about it. They’re just falling down. I am truly honored to have you on my team.
“Christina Eagle, my spirit animal, because when you sing, you bring out the gangster holy ghost in me. I feel what you sing. It’s a gift. It’s an honor to have you on my team and you did an amazing job tonight. Jake, don’t break my heart. This is country music’s finest right here. I love the way you took the information that I gave you and made it your own record. You made me proud to be your coach. Thank you brother Jake."
When host Carson Daly asked Snoop for his decision, he called on the gangster holy ghost for help before declaring the winner of the Knockout.
Tune in to The Voice on Monday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC to find out his decision, or next day on Peacock.
