Watch the Christmas Day National Anthem that Left NFL Fans "Speechless"
For the first time ever, Netflix aired two NFL games on Christmas Day. And while the games themselves were a bit underwhelming (the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens beat the Houston Texans), there was still plenty of entertainment for fans who tuned in to the streaming network.
Beyoncé had the honors of performing during the halftime show of the second game, and she was joined by her daughter Blue Ivy, Shaboozey, Post Malone, and more. But first, Grammy Award-winning a cappella quintet Pentatonix took the field to perform the National Anthem.
The group, made up of vocalists Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Matt Sallee, and Kevin Olusola, hails from Arlington, Texas. They called the experience "an honor" and shared a video of the performance with their followers on Instagram.
Fans commended their rendition in the comments section. One wrote, "You all should do the National anthem for every major event! Never heard a better version performed live!" Another commented, "Sooooooo blown away!!!! Absolutely amazing!!! 😭😍🥰" An enthusiastic fan chimed in with, "Speechless is how I felt when I watched it live. Whew!" Another wrote, "Yall this was fire. Favorite version ever."
If you missed the National Anthem before the Chiefs took on the Steelers, you're not alone. Voices of Service, a vocal group made up of veterans and active duty service members, performed "The Star-Spangled Banner," but the Netflix broadcast had audio issues. The group, who competed on season 14 of America's Got Talent, shared on Instagram, "Grateful Beyond Words 🌟 Even though our audio on Netflix yesterday wasn’t perfect, we were screaming with joy on the inside!"
It was a beautiful way to kick off the Christmas Day NFL games!
