Watch Cameron Diaz return to acting in teaser for “Back in Action”, her 1st movie in 11 years: 'Felt like that bitch again'

Diaz leads the Netflix film with Jamie Foxx in a story about a married couple who, after leaving the CIA, are drawn back into the chaotic world of espionage.

Hollywood icon Cameron Diaz's grand return to acting for her first movie in 11 years has received an appropriately epic teaser trailer.

Netflix unveiled Thursday the first official preview of the 52-year-old's upcoming action thriller Back in Action, which sees Diaz team up with Jamie Foxx, 56, to play a pair of ex-CIA agents who are unexpectedly drawn back into the world of high-stakes espionage.

"For the first time in a really long time, I felt alive again," Diaz says at the top of the teaser (below), amid shots of herself kicking major behind after a team of men approach her at a gas station. "I felt like that bitch again!"

The preview also sees Foxx and Diaz's characters attempt to explain their past to their children, who liken their parents' jobs to something out of a Jason Bourne film.

"Yeah, but we remember stuff," Foxx says, addressing the comparison.

The clip then sees Diaz and Foxx navigate a wealth of wild sequences, including one that sees an airplane crash and glide across a snow-swept mountain, cars flying through the air along a highway, and Diaz leaping off a moving motorcycle and sending it into a foe in front of her. Plus, lots and lots of explosions.

After announcing her retirement from acting in 2018, Diaz recently addressed the decision during a recent public appearance.

"For me, it was just something I had to do," Diaz said at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit. “It felt like something I had to do to reclaim my own life. And I just really didn't care about anything else."

Following her beloved roles in movies like The Mask, There's Something About Mary, and the blockbuster Charlie's Angels films, Diaz's last formal role saw her play Miss Hannigan in the 2014 version of Annie, which also starred Foxx and Beasts of the Southern Wild star Quvenzhané Wallis.

Back in Action — directed by Seth Gordon and co-starring Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, and Glenn Close — releases Jan. 17 on Netflix. Watch the new teaser trailer above.
