The Wanted's Max George Reveals He Will Spend Christmas in the Hospital After Doctors Found 'Issues with My Heart'
The musician revealed that he was hospitalized after feeling "really unwell" and will soon undergo surgery
Max George will spend Christmas in the hospital and will undergo surgery after doctors discovered issues with his heart.
The singer, 36, who rose to fame as part of the boy band The Wanted and later helped revamp the group as the duo The Wanted 2.0 with fellow original member Siva Kaneswaran, posted a candid update on his health on Instagram.
On Thursday, Dec. 12, George shared a photo of himself giving a thumbs-up while lying in a hospital bed. He explained that he was hospitalized after feeling "really unwell" the day before.

"Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart. I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet," he wrote in his caption.
While the musician does not know the extent of his health issues, he wrote that there are going be a "difficult few weeks/month" ahead for him and expressed that "Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned!"
However, he expressed that he is "100% in the best place," as he's "surrounded with love and support from my wonderful partner Maisie [Smith], her family, my family and friends."
"Although this is a huge shock and no doubt a set back, it’s something I'll take on with all I' ve got! I count myself very lucky that this was caught when it was," he continued in his caption. "Apologies if I bore you with updates in the coming weeks..I've probably got a month in a bed and there’s not THAT much to do!😂."
PEOPLE has reached out to a representative for The Wanted 2.0 for comment.
In the comment section, his fans and famous friends sent him well wishes, including Kaneswaran, who wrote, "Here for you brother. Rest up and get well soon ❤️."

On his Instagram Stories, George also shared that he remains in good spirits. He showed a glimpse of his patient status board, where he answered the question, "What matters most to me today?" with the response, "Seeing the Man City game."
