Season 26 of The Voice has probably been one of the best seasons we've seen, not only because of some pretty stellar contestants but also because this season's judges have a dynamic and energy that we simply can't get enough of. And within the last couple of weeks, we got even more to love with the addition of not one but two mega mentors — other famous performers who provide support to the coaches and artists — American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson and Sting. Although they are both talented performers, it's the latter's interaction with coach Gwen Stefani that people can't stop chatting about on social media.
The official Instagram account of the NBC hit show shared a video clip of Gwen and Sting meeting up behind the scenes, sharing a warm embrace as Sting complimented the "Rich Girl" singer and she shared great thanks for his involvement with the show. The two go back and forth, gushing about being fans of one another, with Gwen revealing that she not only saw him play the Synchronicity Tour with his former group The Police back in the early 1980s when she was in the eighth grade, but even showed an old photo where a mullet-wearing Gwen is getting an autograph by Sting as he sits on a motorcycle.
"I'm just dreaming of Sting. His voice is iconic. Nobody sounds like him," she says later in the clip. And she wasn't the only one having big feelings about the British singer.
"Seeing Sting with Gwen to help the artist prepare for the battles was epic! He’s an icon, a musical genius! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥," one fan wrote on Instagram. " LOVE seeing them coach together!! ❤️," another chimed in. "[The] 'Hi my darling,' [shows] the close friendship they share 😍🔥. Legends 🙌👏 I will be watching” 😍," someone else commented. One person said, "THIS DUO IS 🔥🔥."
Although perhaps an unexpected pairing, the two have had a friendship for years now, with Gwen even inducting Sting and the rest of The Police into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2003. This is his first time appearing on the show, where he helped Team Gwen and Team Snoop during the Three-Way Knockout rounds. Jennifer, who was previously a coach on the show for two seasons, assisted Team Reba and Team Michael.
Sting. who confessed to People that he had never actually seen the show, has shared that he's already loving it. "I really feel good about the show. I feel good about myself, and I feel good about the young singers who are putting themselves through this ordeal. It is an ordeal, but I've loved it so far," he told People.
We're loving it too!
