Vince Vaughn Says “Wedding Crashers 2” Is 'Always a Possibility': Has to Tell 'a Great Story'
The actor told 'Good Morning America' that he and the rest of the cast would consider coming back for a sequel
Vince Vaughn says a sequel to Wedding Crashers isn't out of the realm of possibility.
During an interview with Good Morning America on Friday, Sept. 20, the actor, 54, looked back on the hit 2005 comedy and revealed that he would be open to making Wedding Crashers 2 — if the circumstances were right.
"We just had a lot of fun. It was a good group of people," Vaughn says of the movie, which also starred Owen Wilson, Isla Fisher and Rachel McAdams.
"You know, it's been close. They talked about it a few times," he says of the conversation to bring the characters back for a sequel. "I think you just wanna make sure that if you are gonna do it, that there's a great story."

In the film, Vaughn and Wilson, 55, played divorce mediators who spend their free time crashing wedding receptions in order to meet women. Vaughn says that he would most be interested in a sequel that asks: "What's the next chapter in those characters' lives?"

"Don't go back and try to tell the same story again," he adds to GMA. "But do something that would be fitting for the time. So if they land on something that seems engaging — it's always a possibility."
Vaughn's comments about a possible sequel come after his costar Wilson told Yahoo! Entertainment in 2021 that he and the original film's director, David Dobkin, had been discussing a few ideas for the plot.
"I don't think it's 100 percent yet, but they're definitely talking about doing it," Wilson told the outlet. "We'll see."
"You never know when you work on something how it's going to turn out, and that one just really connected with people," Wilson continued, opening up about reuniting with the cast.
"It made a big difference in my life," he added. "I have great memories of it, and working with Vince and how great he is always an exciting thing."

Also in 2021, Wilson spoke with Variety about the potential second film and took time to clear up some rumors circulating that production would be starting that summer.
"Some people are saying that you guys are going to be going in August and that's not right," he told Variety.

"If we all agree that we have a good idea, then we're trying to make something good," Wilson said at the time, adding that Dobkin had been discussing some ideas with Vaughn and that he had "been working on something."
"But it's sort of figuring out what that idea would be and if we think we could do something worthwhile," Wilson added.
Vaughn currently stars in the Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey.
