“The View ”hosts are split on having sex with the lights on or off: 'If I'm going to be seen naked, I want a Venmo payment afterward'

Sara Haines advocates for having sex in the deep, dark — emphasis on the dark — depths of the ocean.

Joy Behar insists on a Venmo payment if you'd like to see her naked.

On Thursday's episode of The View, the cohosts debated a recent Bustle article from a woman recounting how past body image issues have prevented her from getting intimate with the lights on. Deciding to experiment with sex with the lights on for a month on the advice of her therapist, it changed her "whole perspective."

Naturally, Whoopi Goldberg and co. had thoughts on the matter. "She didn't believe that she was sexy enough," said Goldberg, quipping, "So, first of all: stop that. If you don't believe that you're hot, nobody else is gonna believe it. And I guess you need to go to the therapist and work it out."

"This is one time I would say don't go towards the light," interjected Sara Haines. "Not for her. I'm someone that's like, 'Let's have sex in the abyssal zone,' which is where there's no sunlight in the deep depths of the ocean." Don't get Haines wrong, "I think I’m hot," she said — "in the dark."

Behar, on the other hand, is all for the lights on, "but when you want to go to the bathroom, never turn your back," she said. "You walk backwards. It's one thing for the boobies to be hanging, but the behind? Forget it."

Alyssa Farah Griffin said she was pro lights on, and Goldberg agreed. "If the light's on, I can see what you’re bringing to the table too," Goldberg countered.

Behar then quipped, "If I'm gonna be seen naked, I want a Venmo payment afterward." The remark was a sly nod to a previous discussion about former U.S. representative Matt Gaetz's Venmo payments totaling over $10K to two women, which were discovered during a sexual misconduct probe against the Florida politician.

Sex and dating was also a discussion topic during an episode last week, wherein Goldberg advocated for a "hit-and-run hookup." Goldberg, who has no interest in marriage and famously does not want somebody in her house, told her cohosts that she was "not interested in a committed relationship.”

"The guys'll love that," quipped Haines.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC. Watch a clip from Thursday's episode above.
