Vanna White Reveals Boyfriend’s Nickname for Her
Vanna White's pet name from her boyfriend, John Donaldson, was revealed on Wheel of Fortune by her new co-star Ryan Seacrest.
It all came out while the two were taping a new Wheel of Fortune episode, and the skit practically wrote itself.
"During the break, I called Vanna her nickname," Seacrest began in the clip uploaded to Instagram on Thursday, reciting the interaction. "I said, 'Come on, V-Dubs, we got to go. And that's not the first time, right?"
"No, that's what my boyfriend calls me," the 67-year-old explained. "'V-Dubs,'" a combination of the first letter of her first and last name.
When White asked the media personality for his nickname, asking, "What about you?" Seacrest didn't skip a beat, joking: "Oh no, he doesn't call me 'V-Dubs.'"
After sharing a chuckle, the 49-year-old claimed he doesn't have a "great nickname." A point some argued in the comments, citing his former role on Live! where Kelly Ripa appointed him "Ry Ry."
Ironically enough, the longtime letter-turner also told Parade in an exclusive new cover story published on Friday that genuine moments like these are part of why she's not ready to retire, saying the last 40 years of her career with the show have been filled with so much love. She also suggested that Seacrest's personality could be a natural fit for the series, just like herself.
"I feel like by playing myself on TV, I'm able to do that," she said, explaining she's "not playing a character" and that the vivacious personality you see on screen is the same energy she uses to greet every day. "I am who I am, so let me share it with you."
White sees similar traits in her new co-host, who she described as "a kind person, down-to-earth, and hard-working."
"Ryan just stepped right in,” White gushed. “He did so much rehearsing and really cares about the show. Hopefully that’s what America sees."
Those looking to catch up with all the candid moments, epic prizes and nail-biting fumbles can tune into Wheel of Fortune weeknights at 7:30 on ABC and its affiliates.
