US Election: Ivanka Trump's 'panicked' message divides Twitter
The polls are closed and the countdown is on to the results of the 2020 US Election, but that doesn’t mean debate has stopped raging online, specifically about a last-minute call from Ivanka Trump.
The woman who some call the real ‘first lady’ due to her prolific support of her father President Trump, put out a call to republican voters at the eleventh hour via Twitter.
Tweeting at 5:04 pm US time, the 39-year-old urged voters to stay in line until they had cast their ballots.
“Stay in line. DO NOT LEAVE,” the tweet dramatically read. “We need you.”
She also added the hashtag ‘red wave’.

The tweet divided Twitter users, who couldn’t decide if it was a galvanising message to supporters, or if it had the decided whiff of desperation to it.
“LOLOLOL I can smell the desperation all the way from blue Texas,” one Democratic dissident wrote.
“Not sounding very confident,” another observed. “Maybe if you weren’t trying to make voting so difficult people wouldn’t be standing in line for hours to vote.”
“The panic has begun,” another wrote.
Republican voters, on the other hand enthusiastically responded, many reporting they had stuck in line for as long as it took.
“I would have stood in line all day!!!” one lady tweeted in response.
“My daughter and I waited in like for almost 9 hours this morning!” another fan wrote. “It was worth it for you, Ivanka!”
The President’s eldest daughter has been a passionate campaigner for him as he headed into the highly contended election.
With votes currently being counted, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Ivanka, but it seems she can count on some die-hard fans no matter which way the votes swing.
