Yahoo Lifestyle TV Producer Kalen Gorman Dies at 59
TV producer Kalen Gorman died Tuesday after a battle with breast cancer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, her publicist confirmed to Variety. She was 59.
Born in Toronto and raised in Los Angeles, Gorman’s career began assisting Pat Kingsley at PMK Public Relations before she transitioned into television, taking on segment producer roles at E! Entertainment Television and Access Hollywood.
She was known for creating the behind-the-scenes content for Ryan Murphy’s hit series “Glee” while working at Fox Broadcasting. Her videos received millions of views on YouTube becoming fan-favorite interviews with the stars. An integral part of the “Glee” marketing campaign, Gorman’s warm, inviting energy helped the actors feel comfortable and safe to share candidly during these interviews. While at Fox she also collaborated in popular shows like “Bones,” “The Mindy Project” and “Brooklyn Nine Nine.” She also produced and directed more behind-the-scenes content for many other shows, among them the Showtime series “Homeland.”
Additionally Gorman worked as a producer on many reality shows, co-creating the VH1 series “You Rock With…” and executive producing the Facebook show “Ladies First with Grace Helbig.” She also worked for All3Media America, Discovery and Studio71, where she executive produced and directed the Snapchat series “Keepin’ It Real With Keke Palmer,” “Step by Step With Matt Steffanina” and “Worst Firsts With Brittany Furlan.”
She was predeceased by her brother, animation writer Alexx Van Dyne, who died in May 2023 at the age of 61, and her other brother Kerry Gorman, who died in 1992 at the age of 37.
