Citizens of Bachelor Nation, I have some important news: If you were one of the many people worrying about the state of O.G. Bachelorette couple Trista Sutter and Ryan Sutter's marriage, you can officially breathe easy. In a new interview, Trista shot down any rumors of a breakup, confirming that she and Ryan are still going strong.
Rumors of a breakup began swirling in May of 2024, after Ryan posted a series of black-and-white photos of Trista with cryptic captions that said things like, "I want to support and encourage and cheer you on. I want to be there for you. But I can't. And that's ok cause I know you need this time—time to discover yourself again."
At the time, the two denied public speculation about the status of their marriage, but they kept things vague by refusing to really explain why Ryan had seemingly been unable to contact Trista at the time.
Then, in late May, Trista shared on Instagram that she had followed "an opportunity for perspective and personal growth."
Now, we *finally* know what that opportunity was: competing on Special Forces: World's Toughest Test. Trista is heading back to reality television in season 3 of Special Forces—a reality show that recruits celebs and puts them through intense special forces training—and she was away filming at the time of Ryan's posts.
Speaking with E! News, Trista revealed that she was surprised her husband's posts got so much attention. "We don't have millions of followers—we have a great following, but we don't have millions of followers. And for people to really be up in arms about what is happening—Ryan's cryptic posts and all the things—it was a little humbling and very sweet," she said.
She also admitted that she could see how her husband's posts could fuel such rumors. "If you read it back now, it makes total sense," she said. "I was gone, and now you can understand that I was at Special Forces filming the show."
Oh, and side note: Trista told E! News that competing on the series was "the hardest thing I've ever done in my life." (See below for a sneak peek.)
Knowing what we know now, Ryan's posts about missing his wife take on a whole new level of sweetness. To quote my fave caption: "I'll be here when you get back. I'll be here to listen to you, to smile with you, maybe cry with you—I'll be here to love you... I'll be here... forever." <3
You can watch Trista on Special Forces now on Fox or streaming on Hulu.
