Travis Kelce's Co-Star Courtney B. Vance Shares Direct Opinion of His Acting in 'Grotesquerie'

While reactions have been mixed to Travis Kelce's performance in the new Ryan Murphy series Grotesquerie, it seems his co-stars have nothing but praise for the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

Courtney B. Vance, who also appears in the thriller, spoke to People about what it's been like to work with Kelce and how the show's director made it all happen.

"It just lets you know the power of Ryan Murphy," Vance said. "[He] just made a phone call and said, 'Come on down.'"

As for Ryan tapping Kelce for the role, Vance shared, "It was a nice choice," adding that with the NFL player's lack of experience in acting, things "could have been a whole lot different."

"He was very warm, he's very cool," the 64-year-old actor said.

Vance also gave the NFL pro credit for being ready to work and willing to take advice.

"He was very wonderful. [It was] not a surprise, he was just prepared. He was just good. And if he needed some help, he was open," Vance said.

Kelce, 34, even asked Vance if he wanted to go to the football field so he could return the favor by giving him a few tips, but the Law & Order alum wasn't interested.

"'I don't know. Kelce, I thank you for the invitation. Let's just get these lines down, okay?'" Vance said. "I turned him down. I just had a little too much to do that day. Whatever. Taylor Swift, whatever."

Niecy Nash-Betts, who plays Vance's wife in Grotesquerie, also spoke highly of Kelce's work ethic, calling him “a dream."

“He is so charming but comes to work prepared,” Nash-Betts said "He’s open to learn, and I think his fans are going to be pleasantly surprised.”

Yet another Grotesquerie star, General Hospital alum Nicholas Chavez, said Kelce "handled the material like a pro. He’s awesome."
