Today's Sylvia Jeffreys slams Kanye West's nude sushi party: 'Absolutely disgusting'

Kanye West has caused controversy once again by having naked women covered in sushi at his 46th birthday party.

He's a controversial figure, with many people left divided over both his comments and actions over the past few years. And now Today Extra host Sylvia Jeffreys has weighed in on Kanye West's latest controversy.

The 37-year-old moderated a discussion on the breakfast TV show on Tuesday, which centered around the star's 46th birthday party - namely the naked women covered in sushi who lay on the tables at the Los Angeles venue.

Sylvia seemed to take issue with the fact that Kanye's 10-year-old daughter North West - whom he shares with reality star Kim Kardashian - was in attendance.

In a video shared to Twitter, North was seen gagging as she caught sight of the women, before the lens moved on and cas its gaze over the hybrid art installation and possible health code violation.

While on air on Tuesday morning, Sylvia said she felt the performance was inappropriate, especially in the presence of Ye’s young daughter.

“That is absolutely disgusting that you can objectify women like that,” she said.

“But also the fact that Kanye allowed his 10-year-old daughter to attend that party. What you do as an adult you do as an adult, but to bring your 10-year-old daughter to that is appalling.”

Nova’s Tim Blackwell, who was present on the show at the time, said: “Be careful, those girls will end up smelling like fish".

Proceeding to make a joke about sashimi “slipping down” somewhere inappropriate, the guest proceeded to say the segment had now given him “ideas” for his own birthday party.

Sylvia replied that she would not be attending said party, wrapping up the story by expressing the show “probably shouldn’t have done that segment”.

The Japanese practice Nyotaimori is often referred to as ‘body sushi’, and is the samurai-era practice of eating sushi from the naked body of a woman.

Kim Kardashian tears up over Kanye's actions

In the latest season of The Kardashians, Kanye's former wife, Kim, teared up as she discussed her ex's behaviour, saying it's unfair she's asked to speak positively about him in public while he has in the past revealed a lot of their private family matters.

“Sometimes, Kanye will say to me, ‘Can I have approval on what you say about me on your show?’” she said. “And I will say, ‘Well, you just talked about me in this song, this song, this interview, this interview, and you didn’t ask my permission'.

“Even through all the craziness of things that Kanye says about us, like, I never comment, I never post. I have to sit here and not say anything ever because I know one day my kids will appreciate that and I know that’s the best thing for them.”

Speaking to her mother, Kris, Kim said she tries to protect the couple's four children from anything negative they might see or read about their father.

“And by the way, I’m the one where shit can be going down and I get in the car and every day the kids want to blast Dad’s music.

“I’m like, ‘He’s the best! Yeah!’ And I put it on and we’re singing along and inside I’m like dying because I will be his biggest cheerleader to them forever and one day they will see for themselves and I will answer whatever they want me to.”
