'Today' Viewers Get Emotional as Huge Eagles Fan Gets Surprise of a Lifetime: 'So Deserving'
One Eagles fan is about to have a Super Bowl experience he'll never forget!
During the Tuesday, Feb. 4 episode of the Today show, 8-year-old Eagles fan Declan LeBaron was surprised with tickets for his whole family to attend Super Bowl LIX—and the messenger who presented him with the news? None other than fellow Philadelphia Eagles superfan Bradley Cooper.
Declan, from Doylestown, Pa., has systemic juvenile arthritis and has been hospitalized 17 times. He previously attended the Eagles' NFC Championship game against the Washington Commanders after going viral last month when he was featured in a video from charitable social media influencer, Zachery Dereniowski (@mdmotivator).
Just weeks later, Declan appeared on Today with hosts Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin and Jenna Bush Hager, who all clapped in anticipation, as Eagles cheerleaders and pep band members surrounded Declan and his family and sang the team's fight song, "Fly, Eagles, Fly.
Cooper, a Pennsylvania native, then came out with oversized Super Bowl tickets to announce that Declan and his family will attend the big game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Feb. 9.
"You're going to the Super Bowl, baby! Super Bowl Let's go!" Cooper exclaimed, while confetti cannons shot off for the exciting moment.
"You're going to the Super Bowl. I'll see you there," the Maestro actor told Declan.
"From one Eagles Super Fan, Bradley Cooper, to another!" Guthrie said during the episode, which had viewers of the show wiping teams from their eyes over the sweet moment.
"This is so wholesome 🥹, one user commented on the Today Instagram post featuring the surprise, while someone else wrote, "Love this! So deserving. 💚💚💚💚."
Another person added, "This was the BEST!!!! Thank you for such uplifting segments in the morning!!!"
Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs will kick off at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La., on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. ET.
