The Today star made a comment about the pair’s relationship while discussing the news that Australia’s ban on cruise ships will likely end next month.
“I've cleared all of June and July [for a holiday]. We have spoken to our husbands and they are so happy to stay at home with the kids,” Ally told the show’s Queensland correspondent Jess Millward on Wednesday morning.
Karl quickly chimed in to the conversation, questioning: “Why wouldn't you want to take your husbands without the kids? That's interesting.”
“Jess and I just want a bit of girl time, you know? As you do,” she replied, before Karl joked, “Trouble in paradise maybe?”.
“Yes, that’s what it is,” Allison said dryly before the duo started laughing.
Allison has been married to Michael Willesee Jr, son of former A Current Affair host Mike Willesee, since 2008.
The couple shares two children together: five-year-old Mack and three-year-old Scout.
‘I'm out of here’
Karl’s quip comes shortly after he had an on-air ‘clash’ with fill-in host Sarah Abo who ended up jokingly walking off set.
The 60 Minutes reporter had mispronounced the name of a town while presenting the weather forecast, which Karl was quick to make fun of.
“You did really well until the last bit. You always have to have something to get better at,” he told her.
“I'm supposed to be here all week you know that right?” Sarah responded, to which Karl joked, “Are you? We will see about that”.
Sarah then stood up and joked, “Wow, ok see you, I'm out of here,” as she walked away from the desk.
“No Sarah, come back!” Karl yelled, as she returned laughing.
