Yahoo Lifestyle ‘Today’ Fans Are ‘Freaking Out’ Over Jenna Bush Hager’s Surprising New Co-Hosts
Jenna Bush Hager had an exciting update to share with Today viewers as her new show prepared for its third week on the air.
Bush Hager’s program, Today with Jenna & Friends, posted the update on its official Instagram account on Thursday, Jan. 23.
“I know y’all have been waiting for another co-host announcement 👀,” a message attributed to Bush Hager read in the posted screenshot of what appeared to be a show-focused text chain. “Our month of wonder women continues with music week!” The message continued by listing Kelsea Ballerini, Jordin Sparks, Ciara and Wynonna Judd as upcoming guest co-hosts.
The mom of three has invited a handful of guests to help her host the fourth hour of NBC’s popular morning news show ever since the departure of her former Today with Hoda & Jenna co-host, Hoda Kotb. Kotb, who announced her intent to retire in September, celebrated her last day on their show on Jan. 10.
The former first daughter’s new show kicked off the following week, with actresses Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria, Keke Palmer and Michelle Buteau stopping by to fill in as Bush Hager’s co-hosts. Actress Scarlett Johansson also signed on to tackle co-hosting duties for the show’s second week.
According to Today, the show’s “music week” will kick off with Ballerini stepping in as Bush Hager’s co-host on Monday, Jan. 27. Sparks will fill the role on Tuesday, Jan. 28, and Ciara will co-host on Wednesday, Jan. 29, and Friday, Jan. 31. Judd will assume the role on Thursday, Jan. 30.
Fans hurried to the post’s comment section to share their excitement about the surprising new lineup. "Shut up!!!!!! KELSEA!!!!!!! I am freaking out,” one fan wrote as another predicted that Judd was “going to be amazing!! 🩷” and a third said they “Can’t wait to see @Ciara! 😍😍😍.”
Other viewers identified which guest co-hosts from the first two weeks they would like to see return, with Johansson getting several shout-outs.
“Scarlett needs to be the permanent co-host!!” one fan declared as another echoed the opinion, writing, “This really is not difficult- Scarlett should be your permanent co-host! Jenna & Scarlett 📺.”
“Scarlett is a tough act to follow. But changing co hosts each day/week has been fun!!❤️🙌,” a third fan commented.
