Timothée Chalamet Nails 'SNL' Musical Performance With a Little Help From Adam Sandler
When it was announced last month that Timothée Chalamet would not just be hosting an episode of Saturday Night Live this season but also serving as the episode’s musical guest it left some people a little perplexed. Sure, the actor is busy campaigning for his role as Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown, but he isn’t exactly known for being a SINGER singer. Even Chalamet poked fun at the idea during his opening monologue, saying “[SNL] is either really nice for letting me do this, or incredibly mean and this is all a big prank.” But after seeing the performances, I think the sketch show had the right idea.
The Academy Award nominee performed a selection of “personal favorite” Bob Dylan songs including “Outlaw Blues”, “Three Angels”, and “Tomorrow is a Long Time”. Some people may be surprised to see that Timothée was playing guitar in addition to providing vocals, but it’s fair to say that the audience loved it, and they weren’t the only ones. Normally, the episode’s host will introduce the night’s musical guest, but since Timmy was pulling double duty and couldn’t be in two places at once, he needed a little help. Luckily for him, the actor’s Golden Globes buddy, Adam Sandler, was there to give him the proper introduction. “I love him too,” the former SNL cast member nearly screamed into the camera. Sandler really is one of us.
