Timothée Chalamet Jokes His Polarizing Mustache Is a Sign He's Finally 'Hit Puberty'
Chalamet is currently rocking the mustache for his role in 'Marty Supreme'
Timothée Chalamet is all grown up — according to his facial hair, anyway.
The 28-year-old actor appeared on the Dec. 12 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert with his latest look, a thin mustache and his normally long curly hair trimmed in a shorter, shaggy crop.
Chalamet's look was brought to attention while discussing his age, and it all started with a deep conversation about Bob Dylan.
While discussing his age in his upcoming film A Complete Unknown with host Stephen Colbert — where Chalamet plays Dylan in the 1960s — the actor noted that he's actually older than the musician was at that time. It all came down to production delays in filming, as Chalamet was set to start working on the movie nearly five years ago but it wasn't complete until this year.
Alas, Colbert joked to Chalamet and the audience that this just makes the (still quite young) actor "old."
The Call Me by Your Name star laughed off the dig and pointed to his mustache, telling the host, "I've got a little something now."
Further pointing out that his facial hair signifies growth into a man, Chalamet told Colbert, "The first time I was on here, I hadn't hit puberty, and now, my voice has changed. And now, I'll probably play The Rock in his next biopic."

Chalamet's mustache — which has drawn a variety of opinions from his fans (some love it and some are ready for it to go) — is actually for his role in another film, Marty Supreme. He told Extra on Dec. 10 at the A Complete Unknown premiere that he was "basically finished" with the project but not "100% finished" with the project, which is why he's still rocking the 'stache.
As for how he actually feels about the facial hair, though? It's safe to say he may not truly be a fan.
"It's different," he said of his feelings. "That was diplomatic."
In the Josh Safdie-directed Marty Supreme, Chalamet plays ping-pong player Marty Reisman. Gwyneth Paltrow also stars in the movie.
