Timothée Chalamet Hints at the 'Smelliest' Actor He's Ever Worked With and Fans Are Going Wild With Guesses

Timothée Chalamet is spilling the beans on the "smelliest" actor he's ever worked with—well, sort of.

During a press tour stop at BBC 1 Radio with his A Complete Unknown co-star Edward Norton, the pair played a game where "cheeky" British schoolchildren asked the duo lighthearted questions, including which of their former co-stars stunk to high heaven.

"I'm not gonna say any names ‘cause, you know, that would just be mean,” Chalamet, 29, began. “But I did work on a Western years ago, and somebody was—quote, unquote—‘in character’ the whole time, and, uh, it was something.”

Noting he didn't want to give away "too many descriptive details," the Dune star continued: “I was there for two months, but they were really committed. This gentleman’s wife came, and she, you know, they were very in love. She didn’t care.”

After Norton, 55, jokingly suggested it might be Chalamet's Interstellar co-star Casey Affleck, the Wonka actor was quick to say it wasn't him, leaving fans to run rampant with guesses as to who the musky mystery man is.

"I bet he's talking about Christian Bale," wrote one social media user, while another echoed the first guess, adding, "Christian Bale. Just watch The Machinist for an idea of the extent that dude will go through for a role. He’d definitely not have a problem not washing lol."

Another said, "Yeah, agreed. They were in Hostiles together and Bale went method on that film," while a separate fan guessed, "Could be Ben Foster," and another threw Jesse Plemons' name in the ring.

Chalamet, Bale, Foster and Plemons worked on the 2017 Scott Cooper-directed Western, Hostiles, together.

Bale has been married to Sibi Blažić since 2000, and is known for his method acting. For his part, Foster, was engaged but not married to Laura Prepon while shooting the film, and while Plemons was dating now-wife Kirsten Dunst at the time, they didn't tie the knot until 2022.

"Christian brings such intensity and commitment to his character," his Hostiles co-star Adam Beach previously said of Bale's acting in a 2018 interview. "He and Scott Cooper worked so hard to keep the film real that they were almost like twins in their vision.”
