Thomas Markle gets a delivery of blue balloons as Meghan Markle welcomes baby boy
He’s the controversial father of Meghan Markle who sensationally pulled out of her wedding just days before it was due to take place.
But the reported rift between Thomas Markle and his daughter hasn’t stopped the 74-year-old from celebrating the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son in style.
Blue balloons with the words ‘It’s A Boy’ sprawled across them were delivered to Thomas’s house on Monday, along with a massive bunch of flowers.
But it seems that the new grandfather either wasn’t at home or wasn’t answering the door to well-wishers, as the delivery man was forced to leave the package in his garage.
Just after the birth of the baby was announced, Thomas surprisingly gave a statement wishing his daughter well.
“I am proud that my new grandson is born into the British royal family and I am sure that he will grow up to serve the crown and the people of Britain with grace, dignity, and honour,” he told The Sun.
“God bless the child and I wish him health and happiness, and my congratulations to my lovely daughter Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, and God save the Queen.”
The 74-year-old has reportedly been keeping a low profile while residing in Rosarito, Mexico.
The duchess and her father have had a strained relationship since he failed to make it to the royal wedding nearly one year ago because of health reasons.
According to an interview that Thomas did with Good Morning Britain, he has since tried to make amends with his daughter and says that his pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
Still, he shared in his latest statement that he’s “delighted to hear that mother and child are doing well.”
According to statements from The Royal Family Twitter account, Meghan was joined by her mother, Doria Ragland, during the birth.
