Thomas Markle begs Meghan to let him 'hold his grandchild'

Meghan Markle may have thought her father would let her enjoy the last two months of her pregnancy in peace, but it seems there’ll be no such luck.

According to a royal expert, things between the Duchess of Sussex and her dad may only get worse once the royal baby arrives.

According to a friend of 74-year-old Thomas Markle, the former lighting director won’t give up until he’s had a chance to hold his grandchild.

Thomas ‘can’t bear the thought of not being able to hold his grandchild’, the friend told The Sunday Express.

However, it seems Thomas is going about things in the wrong way if he wants to become grandad of the year.

The leaked letter

Last week, the Duchess’ dad released a handwritten five-page letter Meghan wrote to him, begging him to stop ‘victimising’ her in public.

“Dad, I’m so heartbroken, I love you,” Meghan started the letter, which was published by the Mail on Sunday.

“I have one father. Please stop victimising me through the media so we can repair our relationship.”

In the letter, which was sent to Thomas after Meghan’s wedding in May last year, the Duchess spoke about her heartbreak at her dad and half-sister, Samantha Markle, exploiting her relationship for their personal gain.

“On a daily basis you fixated and clicked on the lies they were writing about me, especially those manufactured by your other daughter, who I barely know,” Meghan wrote in the letter, which was seen by the Daily Mail.

“You watched me silently suffer at the hands of your vicious lies. I crumbled inside.”

The former Suits actress went on to say that her heart was crushed ’into a million pieces’ by her father’s public interviews.

Thomas Markle speaks out

Days later, Thomas broke his silence on the backlash against the letter leak, when he was questioned while out in Rosarito, Mexico.

“I love my daughter very much,” he said in a video obtained by The Sun. “I’m very sad.”

It was then reported that Meghan is so furious with the 74-year-old, that’s she’s considering taking legal action against him.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Kensington Palace is weighing up what options they have, with copyright of the Duchess’ personal property thought to be one of the avenues they could take in court.

It all started before the royal wedding

It’s just another blow for the pair’s severely fractured relationship, which has been in tatters since Thomas pulled out of her wedding just days before it was due to take place, after he was reportedly admitted to hospital for heart surgery.

Then, he staged photos with the paparazzi, where he was seen browsing through stories on the internet about the royal couple and even went to get sized up for a suit.

Prince Charles famously stepped in to walk his daughter-in-law down the aisle, with Meghan said to be heartbroken that her beloved dad couldn’t make it to London for her nuptials.

Then, Thomas started to follow in the footsteps of his daughter, Samantha Markle, who had been giving interviews on the Duchess’ life since she first began dating Prince Harry back in 2016.

He spoke about how devastated he was that he missed out on the opportunity to walk his daughter down the aisle and claimed she had changed her phone number so he couldn’t contact her.

Thomas even said ‘it would be easier for Meghan if I died’ in an interview with the Daily Mail.

The sad saga continues.
