This chic and comfy sweater set is fall-ready and nearly 50% off — just $37

I love dressing cozy, but I hate looking frumpy. I'm always on a quest to find soft and snuggly pieces that still look chic. It's a tall order, to be sure. So, when one member of one of my favorite Facebook groups (it's for all things fall fashion and, yes, we do also talk a lot about Gilmore Girls) swore that the Lillusory Sweater Set is the ultimate knit outfit for looking stylish and put together while lounging (and it still looks great running errands), I was intrigued. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it's as little as $37 at Amazon (down from $73) with an on-page coupon. I mean, that's a whopping 49% off.

Can't you smell the pumpkin spice and crackling fire radiating off this sweater set? I can. The only thing left to do is figure out which book I want to cozy up with...

$37 at Amazon

Why is this a good deal? 💰

For a two-piece set that you can wear out and about all year, $37 (with the coupon) is a hard price to beat, especially when similar sets can set you back upwards of $100 — like this popular Free People sweater set for $128. And if you break it down, each piece of the Lillusory set is just under $19.

Why do I need this? 🤔

The trendy and soft set requires basically no effort to look put together — even on the days when you feel anything but (been there). Just change up your accessories and it can be dressed up or down. Pair it with a pair of heeled boots, trendy loafers (I'm a huge fan of these Tory Burch ones) or sneakers when wearing it outdoors. And for those days when you're watching When Harry Met Sally (aka the ultimate fall movie) for the umpteenth time, slip on a pair of fuzzy socks or comfy Birkenstocks.

Made of a mix of cotton and acrylic, the sweater set is both comfy and flattering. The long-sleeve top hits right at the hips, so you can let it hang loose or tuck it into the pants depending on your mood that day. Speaking of the pants, they come with an elastic waistband so you can easily slip 'em on. Meanwhile, the slight flare at the bottom adds a touch of chic that stops it from looking frumpy.

Three models wearing the set in teal, black with stripes and dark brown on a yellow background.
Snuggle up in a variety of colors and patterns, like a soft teal or eye-catching stripes. (Amazon)

What reviewers say 💬

With an overall rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars, including more than 1,500 perfect five-star reviewers, it's safe to say that Amazon shoppers agree with my Facebook group: This is the ultimate cozy-chic set.

Pros 👍

Can a substitute for sweats be chic? Reviewers seem to think so! Here's what they are saying.

"Pictures don't show how interesting the fabric is," wrote one cozy customer. "The weave upscales the outfit from ordinary lounge clothes. The pants have a nice fitted look at the hips and then flare to the pant leg. The shirt is very loose in style and you could wear a tank or tee underneath for extra comfort.

"Love, love, love this outfit," declared a five-star reviewer. "Perfect for lounging, travel and knocking about. I can even dress it up a bit for casual elegance. Received lots of compliments on the texture and outfit overall ... breathes well and provides warm comfort." The same shopper then went on to reveal that they first bought it in khaki but "after all the compliments" decided to buy it in pink and teal as well.

"Material is thick but soft and doesn’t make you too hot," shared this happy customer who suggested sizing up. "I really love the look and feel of this set."

These are so worth it! I bought a second pair. Love them for working from home or lounging in the evenings. I feel very chic and put together in these compared to what was my usual sweatpants and an old T-shirt," said one style-maven. "The top is oversized and the pants are a nice slim but not skinny fit. I actually like the cut of the pants better than the Free People cropped bootleg."

Cons 👎

While shoppers are generally fans of the cozy and chic set, a few noted that the sizing is a tad off. This five-star reviewer wished that they could order a different size top and bottom, noting that it's "very oversized. Even so, they wrote that it's "definitely comfortable and cozy ... the material feels like good quality" and that they'll "be wearing it every day" until the temps rise again.

Similar to the previous customer, a second five-star reviewer mentioned that they wished they sized up because the pants are "more clingy" than they wanted. They still love it though, writing that it's "a great transitional piece for spring and fall." They even blessed us with some styling options: "[It's] cute with sandals, booties or tennis shoes."

And here's just one more quick note from a four-star reviewer: "The material is nice but not super thick, so these aren't the best for cold winters, but rather a crisp fall or spring day." Noted! No wearing them for frigid snowball fights.

The set is available in 19 colors and sizes S to XL. Just note that the prices vary between colors!

How about some plush house shoes to pull the whole look together?

"So comfortable and warm!" exclaimed one of the slipper's 8,700 five-star fans. "Definitely buying more of these! Great for working from home with cold floors. ... I forget I'm wearing them and just leave the house to go shopping."
