The Voice fans divided after US superstar announced as new coach

A global hitmaker will be joining the upcoming twelfth season of the singing competition.

Five months after Keith Urban revealed that he won’t be returning to The Voice Australia as a coach in 2023, Channel Seven has finally announced the global superstar who will be taking his place.

While fans predicted it would be Niall Horan, Adam Lambert or former coaches Delta Goodrem and Ricky Martin, US hitmaker Jason Derulo will be spinning a red chair in the upcoming season.

“Why can’t we have all talented Aussie judges?” one person commented, followed by another who added, “I’d like to watch with people more relevant to Australia”.

“I prefer an all-Australian judging panel,” a third wrote, to which someone else replied, “That would be awesome and each a representative of different music genres”.

Others admitted they were sad there would be another season of The Voice without Delta Goodrem, who served as a coach on the show for eight years but left in 2021.

“Bring back Delta,” one fan wrote, while someone else said, “I miss Delta”.

“I'm kinda sad for not seeing Delta back on Channel 7,” another shared. “I was really hoping to see her and Rita working together.”
