Keith Urban has revealed why he isn't returning for the next season of The Voice Australia alongside fellow judges Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian and Rita Ora.
Speaking with The Sunday Telegraph, the singer shared that while he loves doing the show, he's unable to do the next season but would never say never to doing it again down the track.
"I actually don’t think of it as the end of a chapter at all because I love doing the show," he said. "I feel very close to everybody on the set and hopefully the door can stay open because I would jump back in a heartbeat."
Keith will be performing his The Speed of Now World Tour in Australia next month after having it postponed from December 2020.
The singer will play a series of shows before Christmas, which he and his wife Nicole Kidman will spend in Australia with their family.
He'll then be working on his next album, due for release in early or mid-2023.
"Unfortunately the timing of it means that I won’t be able to come back for this next season of The Voice," he shared. "I will be finishing this album, put it out and then we will be resuming our Vegas residency, which we hadn’t been able to do through the pandemic."
Speaking of Christmas, Keith also told Insider, "I am really looking forward to it and it is summer, a beautiful time to be there. My mum just turned 80 and Nic’s mum, who knows how many Christmases we get with anybody ever but particularly with our mums, I really cherish that chance to spend Chrissy with them and our family in Aus."
He added that it'll be "amazing" to spend Christmas with his and Nicole's extended family as they don't have any relatives in Nashville, where they live.
