Chris Sebastian has been crowned the winner of The Voice Australia 2020 after a history-making series of the Channel Nine show.
The results were one of the closest ever on the show but in the end Chris walks away with $100,000 in prize money and a recording contract with EMI Recorded Music Australia.
Chris Sebastian sang Linkin Park's Numb for his solo performance, handing the win to his coach Kelly Rowland.
Chris was by no means the favourite going into the finale and had previously admitted he struggled with his own identity, especially being in his famous brother Guy’s shadow.
“I’ve been doing it [music] a long time and I’ve tried to prove myself as much as I can and for the most part I’ve always been the brother and that’s kind of sucked. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t,” he told news.com.au last week.
Stellar Perry, Siala Robson, Johnny Manuel were the other finalists to make it all the way to the end with the public able to vote for who would take out The Voice crown for 2020.
For Team Guy, Johnny’s time on The Voice has been plagued by much controversy with the coaches clashing more than once about how ‘fair’ some of the match ups were during the Battle and Playoff rounds.
“It's tough singing against Johnny, and that's why, Johnny, almost every time you've sung it's been controversial,” Guy admitted during the series. “Because you're phenomenal. You're a great talent.”
Stellar Perry has battled emotional highs and lows all season, almost missing out on a spot completely when she lost her Battle round.
But her coach Delta Goodrem said at the time she knew Stellar “could go on to win the show” but needed to keep her emotions in check when performing.
Siala Robson for Team George has been one of the surprises of the season after bursting onto the show with her own original song during the Blind Auditions.
At the time Boy George called her the “most professional” thing he had ever seen, and now he’s taken her all the way through to the grand finale.
How was The Voice winner decided?
Unlike previous seasons, due to coronavirus changes, the four Coaches (Delta Goodrem, Kelly Rowland, Guy Sebastian and Boy George) have been making all the decisions throughout the competition so far.
However, who will be crowned the winner is up to the public.
