This year’s theme is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, and will be hosted by co-chairs Dua Lipa, Penélope Cruz, Roger Federer, Michaela Coel, and of course, Vogue's Anna Wintour.
The event is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with stars paying tribute to the late fashion designer with the dress code “In honour of Karl”. Met Gala outfits are often outrageous, iconic and interesting, and we’ll be bringing you the incredible looks below.

Margot Robbie
The Aussie star managed to pull off a daring, yet elegant look for this year's event. The Barbie actress wore a one-shouldered black gown with translucent corset panelling underneath her bust. Her hair framed her face in old-Hollywood glamour waves, and her makeup was kept light.
Rita Ora
The Voice Australia coach has been loving the sheer-dress trend recently, and she stepped out in yet another see-through outfit. Her black one-shoulder gown featured a long, dramatic train, with dark eye makeup to match.
Rihanna
Fans have been waiting hours for Rihanna to arrive on the red carpet, with the singer's Maison Valentino look certainly worth the wait. The white gown featured a long, sweeping train and a structured ivory top covered in rosettes, which covered her head when she first arrived, with the star later taking it off to wear over her shoulders.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban
The loved-up couple couldn't help but indulge in some PDA during their arrival. Keith looked smart in a classic black tux, while the Moulin Rouge star stepped out in a famous dress she wore for her 2004 Chanel No.5 commercial. The pale pink dress with feather trim suited the star, and she finished her look off with a pair of strappy black heels.
Florence Pugh
The popular actress debuted her newly shaved head for her first Met Gala appearance. She wore a strapless white Valentino creation, with a plunging neckline and statement headpiece. Multiple black feathers on black wires sat atop her head.
The star, who has just established a partnership with Valentino, opened up about her look for the New York Times. "It’s big, but we like big, don’t we? When I’m on those red carpets, there is so much pressure because you’re either selling a movie or trying to make a moment. They’re nerve-racking," she admitted. "The idea is to be as bold as possible. I love the power that it gives me. I love how it sparks conversation."
Julia Garner, Halle Bailey and Daisy Edgar-Jones
The trio of stars posed together in very different black and white outfits. Ozark star Julia Garner wore a white halterneck dress with a triangle cut-out above her waist, paired with a black cape with pale pink lining. The Little Mermaid star and singer Halle Bailey dazzled in a partially see-through white lace dress with a showstopping ruffled cape. Actress Daisy Edgar-Jones wore a custom black two-piece Gucci ensemble, and she told Vogue that she adored her outfit.
"Its classic aesthetic, along with the colour palette, nods to Karl’s time at Chanel, but it’s also got its Gucci twists – it’s the most beautiful outfit I’ve ever worn – I feel very elegant but also comfortable in it," she said.
Jared Leto
The Oscar-winning actor is known for his extreme Met Gala looks, with the star bringing a replica of his own head to the 2019 event. This year, he dressed up as Karl Lagerfeld's beloved white cat Choupette.
Kim Kardashian
The reality TV star caused controversy after wearing one of Marilyn Monroe's most iconic dresses to the Met Gala 2022, and she chose a daring outfit for this year's event. Her dress consisted of a tight corset-styled panel around her torso, with just pearls draped around her bust and skirt areas. Kim added a statement ruffled cape on her arms and a diamond-studded choker around her neck.
Lil Nas X
Lil Nas X left barely anything to the imagination on the red carpet, wearing just silver body paint and a silver thong. He adorned his body with sparkling crystals and wore a bold silver mask over his face. He finished the outrageous look with a pair of silver platform silver boots.
Janelle Monáe
The Knives Out star previously teased that fans shouldn't miss her Met Gala outfit, and it didn't disappoint. "It's such a surprise. I have an experience that I've put together," she told People last week.
After she stepped onto the red carpet in a bulky, black and white coat dress over a hoop base, layers were peeled off as she stood with her arms outstretched. The big reveal showed the actress wearing a set of black lingerie underneath her completely see-through hoop undergarment.
Kendall Jenner
Reality TV star and model Kendall Jenner has divided fans with this year's Met Gala Choice, with one fan saying her sequinned bodysuit was "a mess" on Twitter. Her black bodysuit had long sleeves that hit the ground, and it had a silver sequinned collar. Fans compared her to a "pop singer" and "superhero" on social media.
Cardi B
The rapper changed up her look for the Met Gala, sporting a silver wig and black headband. She told interviewers on the red carpet that her black and white shirt-dress was inspired by Karl Lagerfeld. The dress had a full black skirt that was covered in rosettes, and she added long, black gloves to complete her outfit.
Pedro Pascal
The popular star has gone from strength to strength in his career, most recently appearing as Joel in The Last of Us. He made a bold fashion statement at the Met Gala, appearing in a bright red shirt, red trench coat and black shorts. He accessorised with a black tie and chunky black boots.
Gigi Hadid
The model stunned in a sheer Givenchy black gown with a bustier top and a long, delicate train. She accessorised with matching gloves and a statement pearl necklace.

Jeremy Pope
Singer and actor Jeremy Pope made an extreme statement for Karl Lagerfeld, wearing the designer's face on the back of his long train. He wore a pair of high-waisted black pants, with the long white cape trailing behind him.
Rachel Brosnahan
The Emmy winner took the naked dress to another level, with the top half of her black Sergio Hudson dress completely see-through. Her modesty was covered by some strategically placed beads, with her midriff on display. She wore a long black coat that sat on her shoulders, and had her hair slicked back into a tight ponytail.
Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway chose a white Versace gown for this year's Met Gala, with a slit travelling from her ankle to her bust area. Delicate, gold safety pins with pearl details held the dress together, and she held a matching jacket on her shoulder.
Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner took a fashion risk with her outfit, wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier and Haider Ackermann collaboration. Her asymmetrical red dress had a long left sleeve with a daring thigh-high hem, and she wore a pale blue cover-up with matching red trim.
Finneas O'Connell and Billie Eilish
Siblings and musical collaborators Finneas O'Connell and Billie Eilish arrived in two contrasting looks. Finneas appeared aloof, wearing a pair of dark sunglasses with a metallic brown trench coat. Billie seemed excited, wearing a black lace Simone Rocha dress with 1920s-styled hair. She wore long, sheer black gloves and matching thigh-high stockings with tall platform shoes.
Mindy Kaling
The writer and actress dazzled on the red carpet, stepping out in a strapless white dress that fell to her ankles. She sported dramatic eye makeup and kept her hair swept back. She recently told Marie Claire that she loved her Jonathan Simkhai gown, saying: "Simkhai and his LA-based team of ateliers are perfectionists. I feel so confident in the gown."
The designer also spilled about the process of making her dress, saying he was wanting to "celebrate Kaling. and the empowerment of the female form."
Jenna Ortega
The Scream actress shot to fame this year after appearing in Netflix's smash series Wednesday, and she seems to have taken inspiration from the title character. She wore a black corset dress with a cropped lace jacket, with gold chains and pearls adorning the gown. She finished her look off with a pair of black and white platform boots and a cute black bow on her collar.
In March, she told InStyle that playing the character Wednesday influenced her own personal style. "I have a hard time getting her off of me, at least clothing-wise," she admitted. "It's also something that I've always wanted to do. I just never felt like I could."
Lily Collins
The Emily in Paris star showed off her tribute to Karl Lagerfeld while walking up the stairs, with 'KARL' written on the train of her dress. Her strapless Vera Wang gown featured puff sleeves and a white bustier top, before turning into a long, black skirt.
Dua Lipa
As one of this year’s co-chairs, Dua Lipa’s Met Gala look was highly anticipated. The singer didn’t disappoint, donning a sophisticated white Chanel gown with black and white trim. Her Tiffany & Co necklace was a showstopper, with over 100 carats of diamonds hanging around her neck.
Suki Waterhouse and Robert Pattinson
The power couple couldn't keep their hands off each other as they posed for the cameras. The model wore a see-through Fendi dress covered with floral embroidery and a pair of dazzling heels. The Twilight star also shone on the red carpet, matching a Dior tux with black dress shoes covered in jewel details.

Doja Cat
The singer and rapper is known for taking huge fashion risks and looked completely unrecognisable for a Paris Fashion Week show in January. She didn't disappoint for this year's Met Gala, with her cat-like appearance for the red carpet. She wore a tight white dress with a fishtail hem, with the high neckline turning into a headpiece with ears. Her eyebrows were bleached, and a sparkly pendant sat on her forehead.
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness
The Aussie couple matched with their black and white outfits. Hugh chose a simple black tux without a bowtie, while his wife stunned in a tight black dress with a high neckline.
Amanda Seyfried
The actress showed off her figure in a short corset minidress, with golden chain details sweeping down from her neck to her thighs. Her blonde hair was styled in voluminous curls and she opted for a classic red lip.
Olivia Wilde
