The Block: Tension between feuding couples erupts into fiery confrontation

The Block couples Leah and Ash and Kristy and Brett have perhaps had the most turbulent relationship in the history of the renovation reality show, going from immediate best friends to sworn enemies in a matter of weeks.

While the rivals have not been on speaking terms following an awkward confrontation last week, tensions reached boiling point during Thursday night’s episode when they had an expletive-filled screaming match.

'Shut the f**k up'

All five teams came together for a body corporate meeting to discuss Kristy and Brett’s plan to present their backyard to the judges during front yard week.

The couple acted ignorant about the switch, claiming their corner block resulted in confusion about which area was which. However, they openly told producers that they wanted to present their pool in the final week of the competition so they had a better chance of impressing the judges and winning the Mustang up for grabs.

Leah and Ash, who were the only couple Brett hadn’t approached one-on-one to seek approval, were outraged by the idea and weren’t afraid to let their thoughts be known.

“Ash, you’re being an absolute d**k,” Kristy told him as he began to fire up. “One area that was deemed our back garden we planned for because it was called our f**king back garden, shut the f**k up.”

As Leah stepped in to defend her husband, Kristy turned her attention to her former BFF.

“Are you joking? Are you actually joking?” she remarked. “He’s come at me the whole f**king time. I haven’t said anything about this besides saying ‘I don’t care’.”

“Exactly, you don’t talk to us,” Ash said, to which Kristy yelled back, “Who cares! I don’t have to f**king talk to you!”.

Kristy and Ash patch things up

After the teams agreed Kristy and Brett had to present their pool the same week as everyone else and wrapped up the body corporate, Ash stuck around to hash things out with the couple.

“This is me saying, do you want to be friends for the last two weeks, or do you want to just keep going how it’s going?” he asked.

“I’m not bothered by it!” Kristy replied.

The builder then apologised for the incident that blew up their friendship in the first place, saying that he and Leah never meant to “stitch them up” in front of the cameras.

“The reason why I was not talking to you guys is because I was hurt by your actions,” Kristy said. “And the fact that you can see that, not that you need to agree, is more than enough for me to be happy to put everything aside.”

The trio ended up sharing an “awkward hug”, seemingly ending one of the most uncomfortable reality TV feuds of 2023.
