“Ted Lasso” Star Nick Mohammed Teases New Project and Fans Think It Might Be Related to Season 4 of the Hit Show
PEOPLE previously confirmed in August 2024 that the Apple TV+ show was in talks to return for a fourth season
Comedian Nick Mohammed’s recent announcement has some Ted Lasso fans excited.
Mohammed, who played Nathan Shelley on the popular Apple TV+ show, shared in an Instagram post on Thursday, Jan. 16 that he had to reschedule several dates of his live show Show Pony in order to accommodate some filming for a project — which fans speculate to be connected to Ted Lasso.
“I know there’ll be a lot of speculation as to why we moved these dates, you know what is it for? I’ll be honest, it is for some filming that I’ve not been able to shift for love [not] money,” the actor and comedian said.
“I cannot say what that filming is. But it will be announced shortly,” he added.
Despite his words, fans shared their suspicions about the project being connected to the Jason Sudeikis-led comedy, as Mohammed hashtagged “Ted Lasso” in the caption for his video and even held up a hand-painted “Believe” sign — similar to the one that appears on the show courtesy of the main character, Ted Lasso.
“In the meantime, I would really appreciate [it] if people just didn’t speculate as to what they think [the project] might be,” Mohammed joked in the video, while briefly holding up the sign. “Alright? Okay? Because the last thing I want is for people to be going mad.”
One fan commented, "'Please don’t speculate' Holds Believe sign and includes #tedlasso in the caption 😂," while another said, "Peep the believe sign though 👀." Another fan added, "Do NOT tease like this!!!!! 😭😭😭."
While discussing the video on the Tuesday, Jan. 21 episode of the Today show, co-host Savannah Guthrie speculated that Mohammed could be filming a Ted Lasso-themed Super Bowl commercial.

In August 2024, PEOPLE confirmed that the hit TV show — which follows American college football coach Ted Lasso (Sudeikis) as he tries to manage struggling English Premier League soccer team, AFC Richmond — was in talks to return for a fourth season.
This came after its studio, Warner Bros. Television, picked up options on British cast members Hannah Waddingham (who played Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), who were contracted under the United Kingdom acting union Equity.

At the time, the studio still needed to make new deals for the actors represented by SAG-AFTRA in the United States including Sudeikis, Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) — who also co-created, executive-produced and starred in the show.
Though the show originally was set to conclude after three seasons in 2023 — as Sudeikis said ahead of the season premiere that the third season signified "the end of this story we wanted to tell" — its co-creator Bill Lawrence told Collider that there was a potential for more seasons.
"Whatever Jason feels like doing and whatever his decision is, we're all down with it,” Lawrence said in August 2024.
"Not only is he the star, he’s the head writer and he’s also the dude whose life just has to be completely overhauled and moved to a foreign country with young children," the co-creator said at the time, adding that "it’s a big deal."
