Taylor Swift's 'Childless Cat Lady' Post After Debate Has People Shook

If you live in the United States, you probably tuned into the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump on Tuesday night... or you've heard plenty about it on TV and social media. But one of the biggest moments of the evening didn't take place during the debate — instead, it happened after the debate ended.

After how outspoken Taylor Swift was during the 2020 presidential election, fans have been waiting to see if she planned to speak out about the election this time around, and immediately after the debate came to a close, the singer made her move, sharing her official endorsement of Kamala Harris in a post on Instagram.

On Tuesday night, Taylor took to the social media app to share a photo of herself cuddling her cat, Benjamin Button, from her Time Person of the Year shoot at the end of 2023.

She started out by saying that she had watched the debate and had put in time researching the upcoming election, encouraging her followers to do the same, before sharing why she felt it was so important to make where she stands on this topic clear.

"Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation," she wrote. "It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth."

Then, Taylor confirmed that she will be voting for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz in the election this November.

I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos," she continued. "I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades."

She went on to encourage her followers to do their own research and, of course, to vote. "I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story," she wrote.

Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady

Taylor signed off her message "With love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady." While it's true that Taylor does happen to be a cat lover who doesn't have children, this sign off was a nod to a comment that Trump's running mate JD Vance made about women in America who aren't mothers.

When it comes to childless cat ladies, Taylor might be the most famous — after all, her cats Meredith, Olivia, and Benjamin are celebrities in their own right — but she's in good company. Plenty of other famous ladies also consider themselves cat ladies, from Kesha to Kate McKinnon.

What's wrong with being a childless cat lady? Absolutely nothing, and anyone who thinks there is hasn't discovered how great cats are. Their loss!
