Sydney Sweeney & Amanda Seyfried ‘The Housemaid’ From Paul Feig Sets Christmas 2025 Release
Lionsgate’s has counterprogramming to next holiday season’s Avatar: Fire & Ash and that’s their thriller The Housemaid starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. The pic will come out on Christmas Day.
The movie also stars Brandon Sklenar, and as we announced previously, 365 Days Italian actor Michele Morrone.

Based on the Freida McFadden novel and adapted by Rebecca Sonnenshine, the movie follows Millie (Sweeney) is a struggling young woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (Sklenar), an upscale, wealthy couple. She soon learns that the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.
Producers are Todd Lieberman, Carly Kleinbart Elter, Feig and Laura Fischer.
The weekend before Christmas next year, Dec. 19, has 20th Century Studios/Disney’s Avatar: Fire & Ash, and untitled Warner Bros movie and untitled SpongeBob Squarepants movie from Paramount.
Christmas Day brings The Housemaid, as well as Amazon MGM Studios’ Sarah’s Oil, an untitled Angel Studios movie and an untitled Universal event feature.
Feig has the Blake Lively-Anna Kendrick reteam at Amazon MGM Studios, A Simple Favor 2. That sequel isn’t scheduled to get a theatrical release like its predecessor. No drop date on Prime Video has been scheduled for A Simple Favor 2. Lionsgate originally released Feig’s A Simple Favor in 2018, the black comedy grossing $53.5M domestic and over $97M worldwide.
Lionsgate currently has the Kingdom Story production The Best Christmas Pageant Ever in theaters which opened to $10.7M and has yielded a 3.5x multiple for an ongoing domestic cume $37.1M.
