I don't know about you, but even though we are only two weeks into the working year, I am already dreaming of my next holiday. Go on, admit it. You are too.

Whether it's a domestic trip to one of the many awesome destinations Australia has to offer or an overseas jaunt that will make all of your mates on social media jealous (or both), it's no secret that travel these days is really expensive. Even if you are one of those savvy people who know the right days to book flights and are always on the lookout for sweet deals, the cost of getting away from it all can add up.

Aside from saving up your hard-earned cash to put towards your next vacation, you can also be earning points just from your daily walk to the bus stop, coffee shop or dog park.

It's a feature of the Qantas Wellness app that, despite being around for years, is still taking people by surprise.

One Aussie woman shared the discovery with her followers on TikTok, with plenty of people commenting that they wished they had known about the hack sooner.

"I was today years old when I learned that Qantas literally gives you points for going on a walk," creator Chloe says in the video. "Like literally go on a hot girl walk, get Qantas points, get free flights. I cannot believe I didn't know this sooner because I would have racked up those points, but all you have to do is download the Qantas wellbeing app."

"Omg thank you. Did not know this," someone wrote in reply.

"HOW DID WE NOT KNOW THIS!!?!?!," another asked.

"I started this 2 weeks ago! so good!" was another reply.

"Not me putting my tracker on my very active school kid for extra steps 😂😂😂," another person joked (we assume).

As mentioned in Chloe's video, you need to download the Qantas Wellbeing App - and have a Qantas frequent flyer membership.

You can track your activity with a variety of devices like a FitBit, Garmin or Apple Watch and set different challenges for yourself to earn points and get a little healthier.

You can earn points for activities such as running, swimming, cycling, golfing and even sleeping.

It should be noted though that the number of points you can earn is not a huge amount - for example, 30 minutes of running will yield only 12 points.

The benefits also drop off after the 28 day trial with eligible customers being able to earn up to 1,000 Qantas Points during the 28-Day Trial before the "points drop by a tenth" according to one customer who replied to Chloe's video.

Well, it depends who you ask.

Although several people expressed their excitement at the revelation, several others said it was not all it was cracked up to be.

"Don’t waste people’s time. You need 10k + for a short flight. You’d need to walk around Australia before getting a flight. Just get a credit card. Much better," was one reply.

"The most points you can get per year on the app is 2000 🤣," another person said.

"It would quicker to walk rather than fly accumulating points this way," a third added.

However, as another person put it: "Yes!!!!! Blew me away when I found this out. Getting steps in, also a sleep thing if you don’t touch your phone for a certain amount of hours. I use this - it’s better than nothing 👏👏"
