Surprise Marvel drone show teases Galactus and “Fantastic Four” at Comic-Con

The drone and fireworks display was announced by Marvel boss Kevin Feige at the "Deadpool & Wolverine" panel on Thursday night.

Look up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's... Marvel teasing the upcoming Fantastic Four movie and its villain, Galactus, during a surprise drone and fireworks show at 2024 Comic-Con.

At the end of Thursday night's Deadpool & Wolverine panel, Marvel boss Kevin Feige told Hall H attendees to "wait 'til your watch says 9:40, and then look to the sky above PetCo Park." At that time, a large drone show formed the character of Galactus in the sky. The purple big bad rose above the San Diego Padre's baseball stadium before the drones reassembled into the Fantastic Four logo, accompanied by fireworks.

WandaVision’s Matt Shakman is set to direct the new movie, which will bring Marvel's first family into the MCU. Little else is known about the film’s plot, aside from the fact that it's a period piece set in 1960s New York. However, Feige has suggested that it might not be the same 1960s New York that viewers have previously seen onscreen.

“There was another piece of art we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air making a 4 symbol, and there was a cityscape in the corner of that image,” Feige said on The Official Marvel Podcast. “There were a lot of smart people who noticed that that cityscape didn’t look exactly like the New York that we know, or the New York that existed in the ‘60s in our world. Those are smart observations, I’ll say."
