Sunrise's Kochie reveals hard part of daughter's wedding: 'Emotional'

Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch returned to the breakfast show on Monday after a short stint overseas for his youngest daughter Georgie’s wedding.

Talking to his co-host Natalie Barr, he explained what the hardest part of the wedding was.

“It was just fantastic. It all went off without a hitch, the weather was beautiful. Everyone was just lovely,” he told his co-host.

When Natalie asked him if he cried walking his daughter down the aisle, he admitted that it was actually at the reception where he broke down.

“No, at the reception, during the speech. Which I do for all of my kids' weddings, but I thought [for] the fourth one I’d better make up some emotion, just so Georgie doesn’t feel out of it,” he joked.

“I lasted for the first half a sentence [before crying]. It is so emotional when your kids get married,” he told her.

Kochie’s sweet detail in daughter’s wedding

This comes after Kochie shared a very sweet detail from Georgie’s wedding.

The Sunrise host has four adult children and eight grandchildren with wife Libby, and many of the family members were involved in the big day.

Kochie and Libby’s daughters were all bridesmaids, his granddaughters were given special roles as ‘junior bridesmaids’ and his two-year-old granddaughter was a flower girl.

The proud father walked Georgie down the aisle during the ceremony, before giving her away to her partner Alex Merkel.

Posting some photos of the emotional day on Instagram, he gushed over his daughter and new son-in-law, saying: “Congratulations Mr and Mrs Merkel. And welcome to the family Alex, Use and Gerlind. Last of our mob to be married.

“Such a wonderful day. Wedding in Regent’s Park. Fun, emotional, beautiful. All about family.”
