The strange suspicion Princess Diana had about her own death
In August 1997, many royal fans across the globe were left devastated by Princess Diana’s death.
Just one month before the tragic car accident in Paris, Diana reportedly expressed concerns about her fate after the murder of her friend and fashion designer Gianni Versace in July 1997.
At the time of his death, Diana was with her then-boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, on a yacht in the Mediterranean. The couple were also accompanied by Dodi’s bodyguard Lee Sansum.
The morning after they found out the news, the bodyguard found Diana gazing out at the view and she asked him, according to The Express, “Do you think they’ll do that to me?”
The mother of William and Harry attended Versace’s funeral in Milan, Italy, sitting next to Elton John, Anna Wintour, Sting and designer Karl Lagerfeld.
The late royal apparently also had a strange premonition she could would become a victim to an “establishment conspiracy”.
“They will do it when I am in a small plane, in a car when I am driving, or in a helicopter,” she reportedly told her friend and fashion designer Roberto Devorik.
In 2008, 11 years after the tragic incident, it was ruled that the crash was caused by a combination of negligent driving and also being pursued by the paparazzi.
Prince Harry spoke about how his mother was hounded by the paparazzi in the 2017 BBC documentary Diana, 7 Days was released to mark the 20th anniversary of her death.
The 34-year-old shared his disgust at the people who chased her into the tunnel snapping images of Diana as she lay dying in the car, claiming it is one of the “hardest things to come to terms with”.
