Sting Shares Candid Health Update After Canceled Shows

Just one day after Sting canceled an upcoming appearance and postponed three shows, the former frontman of The Police shared an update on his current health issues.

The iconic musician took to Instagram on Wednesday, Jan. 22, to thank fans for their understanding and support, and to let them know he's on the road to recovery.

"Thanks so much for all of the well wishes," Sting wrote.

"I am steadily improving from a temporary throat infection which has prevented me from singing, though I’m looking forward to resuming my performances and rescheduled shows soon. Love, Sting."

Sting's followers sent their best wishes in the comments.

"Glad you’re on the mend! ❤🙏🏻," raved one fan.

"Waiting for you, maestro," a second person added.

"Your talent is gift to the world and your music has the power to heal and uplift🙌," gushed someone else.

The day before, Sting canceled his upcoming engagements in another statement on Instagram.

“On advisement from his doctor, due to illness, it is with sincere regret that Sting must cancel his appearance at the Bass Magazine Awards this Thursday," the message read, "Sting sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience and extends his gratitude to the fans for their understanding."

The singer was expected to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Bass Magazine Awards on Jan. 23.

Originally scheduled performances Jan. 24 in Phoenix and Jan. 26 in Wheatland, Calif., have been rescheduled for June 1 and May 28, while Sting's appearance at Cherrytree Music Company’s 20th-anniversary concert on Jan. 25 has been pushed back to May 29.
