In a new Olympics-themed teaser, which you can watch above, we see track and field athletes lining up to run, but they’re overtaken by Squid Game contestants in those familiar green tracksuits. As the Squid Game players run in terror and fall to the ground, the Front Man, flanked by guards, tells us: “It’s been three years. Do you want to play again?”

In Season 2, “three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport,” per the official synopsis. “Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organization proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.”

Lee Jung-jae, who won an Emmy for playing Gi-hun/Player 456 in Season 1, returns to the Season 2 cast, along with Lee Byung-hun as the Front Man, Wi Ha-jun as cop Jun-ho and Gong Yoo as the game’s recruiter. Emmy winner Hwang Dong-hyuk returns as writer, director and producer.

Squid Game debuted on Netflix in September 2021 and became a worldwide phenomenon, surpassing Stranger Things and Bridgerton to become the streamer’s most-watched original series of all time. Season 1 also earned 14 Emmy nominations, including one for best drama series.
