Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh joined a bevy of A-list attendees at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Monday. The British royal family member was spotted attending the Women’s Team Sprint gold medal race, where Team Great Britain won gold and set a new world record.

For the thrilling occasion, Sophie wore a sleeveless midi dress courtesy of London-based fashion label Erdem. The dress, in a shade of plum purple, featured an array of flowers including tulips, daffodils and honeysuckle. The midi dress also featured ruffled trims at the collar and shoulders, a cinched waist and a flowing pleated skirt.
The Duchess of Edinburgh watched as Team Great Britain members Emma Finucane, Katy Marchant and Sophie Capewell won the Women’s Team Sprint and also set a new world record during the Track Cycling event. Sophie’s expressions wholly illustrated what the moment meant for Great Britain.
Throughout the 2024 Paris Olympics, several high-profile attendees have worn their own iterations of patriotic style or Parisian-inspired attire. For Sophie, however, leaning into a quintessential sartorial summer motif was an ideal choice.
The Duchess of Edinburgh, who is married to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest son Prince Edward, has a proclivity for florals, a trend that’s been on display over the course of the summer season. While attending Royal Ascot last June, Sophie wore a dress flowing with floral detail.
The Duchess of Edinburgh wore the Keres Daisy Dress courtesy of Suzannah London. The look featured sheer and see-through fabric on the skirt and the long sleeves. All over the dress were small daisies cascaded down the fabric, adding a touch of floral inspiration for the summertime occasion.
Despite the trend of patriotic garb worn by such 2024 Olympics attendees as Kendall Jenner and Jessica Chastain, among others, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh opted for a look that spoke directly to her individual approach to fashion, while also staying on-trend and in-season with floral elements and showcasing her home pride thanks to the London-based designer, Erdem.
