Snoop Dogg Broke His Silence On All The Backlash For Performing At A Trump Inauguration Event, But Fans Are Still Calling Him A "Sellout"
Snoop Dogg has finally addressed all the backlash he faced for performing at an event celebrating Donald Trump's inauguration.
In case you missed it, Snoop performed at an event called Crypto Ball, joined by artists like Soulja Boy and Rick Ross. Two days before Trump's inauguration, it was held in honor of the incoming president and hosted by David Sacks, Trump's so-called crypto czar.
My face when I found out:
Backlash was swift and severe. Snoop reportedly lost over half a million followers, and fans shared their disappointment across social media, frequently mentioning that Snoop himself had harshly criticized Trump many times over the years. He once called people who vote for Trump "some stupid motherfuckers" and specifically slammed entertainers who would perform at Trump's first inauguration.
Well! Snoop finally addressed the criticism by posting a video on Instagram, where he sang along to gospel music. "For all the hate, I’m going to answer with love," he said. "Get your life right, stop worrying about mine."
"I’m cool. I’m together. Still a Black man. Still 100% Black."
"All out ’til you ball out or 'til you fall out," he concluded.
Fans were less than impressed in the comments. Many said they'd "lost all respect" for the rapper:
Quite a few said Snoop had "disappointed" them:
Some said they were unfollowing and blocking him:
Others said they thought he "cared about black issues":
And many people called him a sellout...
...especially since Snoop's stance changed so drastically:
