Aussie CEO gets married in $300 wedding dress

If there’s one thing anyone who’s ever planned a wedding will know, it’s that it’s one of the most expensive days of your life.

However, one Australian CEO has stunned after rocking up to her Sydney wedding, held at the Sergeants Mess in Mosman, wearing a gorgeous $299.95 Showpo wedding dress.

Jane Lu, who is actually the founder and CEO of Showpo, walked down the aisle to marry the company’s CFO, James Waldie, in a specially designed gown from her own label, which other brides can now preorder for their own weddings.

The 'Fairy Tale Gown' is a sleek, floor-length dress with a daring side split, which, according to the brand, was designed with the modern bride in mind.

“After launching our Wedding Shop this year it would be crazy of me not to wear Showpo,” Jane told Yahoo Lifestyle Australia.

“I was so lucky to be able to have the exact dress I wanted as I worked closely with our in-house designers here at Showpo.”

She also revealed that all seven of her bridesmaids were clad in various shades of pink dresses from the label.

Fans of the CEO were delighted when she announced on Instagram that her dress is now available to preorder on the site for brides who want to emulate her style.

Taking to her social media page, Jane uploaded a series of snaps from her big day on October 3rd, which showed her and her new husband, James, sharing a kiss while their bridal party cheered them on.

Jane and James, who met on exchange in a small town in the south of Sweden 10 years ago, really wanted their wedding day to reflect how they approach their daily life - ‘think big and have fun’.

“Being the CEO and CFO of Showpo, a lot of our lives revolve around the business so it made sense to incorporate it into our special day which made it really unique for us,” Jane said.

“We didn’t want the wedding to be too much about working together as its only a small part of our relationship, just a sprinkle of a couple of our favourite Showpo traditions for fun.

I really didn’t think I’d be one of those brides who say my wedding day was the best day of my life, but it really was! Everything was perfect and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face all day.”

Jane’s budget gown revelation comes just six months after the brand announced they were launching wedding dresses for as little as $199.95.

The bridal range launched in May and features gowns in sizes 4 - 20 ranging in price from $199.95 to $349.95.

Guests can also get in on the action, as the retailer is also sells wedding guest outfits and accessories.
