Shoppers rave about 'brilliant' IKEA bath mat hack: 'Such a great idea'
The simple budget-friendly DIY has wowed home decorators.
A clever IKEA shopper has transformed her unorthodox wardrobe space into a plush paradise with a pocket-friendly hack. The ingenious idea involves meshing together four IKEA ALMTJÄRN bath mats to craft a bespoke rug for an 'oddly shaped' walk-in closet.
Priced at just $29 each, the entire project stayed under the $120 mark, offering an affordable solution for a decorating dilemma.
Sharing her excitement in a popular IKEA hacks Facebook group, the DIY decorator shared, "I’m actually thrilled about the way this turned out because I’m able to wash them without hassle, and they feel sooooo soft and plush under our feet."
The hack received widespread praise, with many applauding the outside-the-box thinking.

Comments poured in from fellow group members, with one user acknowledging the smart approach, stating, "Keeping them separate would definitely help with fitting them in the washer and dryer when needed! Smart!"
Others chimed in with enthusiastic remarks, calling the hack "brilliant" and commending the user for making great use of space. One commenter even remarked, "Such a great idea! I wouldn't have even known they were bath mats put together if you hadn't said; they look like one rug!"
When asked about the assembly process, the inventive IKEA shopper revealed, "I literally just put them on the floor together and then fluffed them to try and blend the lines," explaining the simplicity of the technique—no stitching or gluing required. The separation of the mats was also pointed out by group members as a practical choice, allowing for easy washing and drying.
To enhance the rug's stability, the original poster hinted at future plans, stating an intention to add "a large ottoman in the centre, which will also help keep them all in place."
