Selma Blair has reached the "teenage years" of motherhood!

The Legally Blonde actress, 52, spoke with PEOPLE at The Daily Front Row's 11th Annual Fashion Media Awards on Friday, Sept. 6, and detailed her love for her son, Arthur Saint, who turned 13 in July.

As the proud mother explains, the "teenage years have happened."

"I'm a grandma," Blair jokingly says. "I have an announcement."

"No, he's 13 and you would think he's 17," she adds. "And he is the child that I will have to learn to keep a closer eye on. Because I love him very much."

Blair shares Arthur with ex Jason Bleick and has continued to post updates about the teen on social media in recent months. On Aug. 13, the actress shared a cute mirror selfie with her son, showing off his new blonde buzzcut and apparent growth — as she captioned the snap, "Has my son surpassed my 5'4?"

In the mirror selfie, Arthur and Blair stood side-by-side as he wore an all-black baggy outfit, seemingly standing just a few inches taller than his mom.

Before then, Blair last posted about her son on Mother's Day, as Arthur sat on an outdoor patio next to his mom and her service dog, Scout.

"This is the first Mother’s Day in ages where my son lets me capture him for a photo. And my love is boundless," Blair wrote in the caption. "Thank you Arthur. I’m the proudest mom. Happy Mother’s Day mamas ♥️."

Back in November, Blair spoke with PEOPLE about her son at Glamour's Women of the Year Awards when she was asked what her then-preteen thought of her being an honoree at the event.

"I can't remember. My son probably said, 'Are you getting paid? Can I have money?' " she said, laughing. "I imagine that's like what he always says."

"Oh, typical boy. Yeah, that's why we celebrate females," Blair continued. "No, my son is perfectly 12. I'm sure he is proud."

Elsewhere during her conversation with PEOPLE at the fashion event on Friday, Blair chatted about some of her earliest film roles. Speaking about 1999's Cruel Intentions and its 25th anniversary this year, Blair said it still "makes me so happy" as she commended the movie's wardrobe, overseen by costume designer Denise Wingate.

“I mean, she did an amazing job with the wardrobe,” she said. “But it was one of the most gorgeous movies. It still lasts. It still holds up. And I love it. And I love everyone in that cast.”

Blair added that while she doesn't actively "put [the movie] on," she would "never turn it off" if it started playing in the background — a promise she also made about Legally Blonde.

“[I] never turn off Legally Blonde, too. I'll never turn that off,” she said. “Because that's just really happy ... and they have a great energy and they're beautiful ... and I was so thrilled.”
