Security guards' adorable lockdown office move wins hearts
A sweet gesture is going viral online after a woman revealed what happened to everyone’s office plants when she and her colleagues were abruptly sent into lockdown.
In a post on her blog ‘The Now Not the Yet’, the 24-year-old from the UK said that everyone simply assumed their plants were dead.
“When lockdown happened in the UK it happened very suddenly. At the law firm I work at, our office building emptied overnight when everyone was told to work from home. No time to clear our desks, no time to bring office plants home,” she said.
“Fast forward three and a half months - everyone assumes that their plants are dead.”
But much to her surprise an email got sent around revealing one of building’s security guards had turned florist and single handedly saved every single plant in the office.
Along with the rest of the security team, they moved every single plant from all 12 floors into the cafeteria.
“It’s been turned into a temporary greenhouse. Cacti and succulents and spider plants and terrariums and potted ferns,” her post continued.
“AND! Each plant has been INDIVIDUALLY LABELLED by hand with post-it notes with name and desk location so the plants can go home after lockdown ends.”
The post has received over 40k reactions from people with plenty thanking her for sharing the sweet story.
“Please tell the security people at your work that their caring for everyone’s plants is the only thing I’ve seen today that makes me want to keep living on this planet,” one person responded.
