But, as her former co-host Savannah Guthrie revealed in a recent interview, that doesn’t mean she left everything behind.

Guthrie and Kotb’s replacement, Craig Melvin, stopped by The Tonight Show on Jan. 15 to chat with Jimmy Fallon about how they’re settling into their new routine on the NBC program, but as the topic of Kotb came up, Guthrie had a bone to pick with her friend.

She started the anecdote by sharing that she’s been talking to Kotb “more than ever, I mean, we’ve talked every single day.”
Guthrie continued, noting that “it’s funny” because “we gave her this beautiful goodbye, but it’s a new era, it’s the Craig era. And we go in and we sit on the set, and there are these like, trays,” indicating that the hosts have little necessities lying around near their posts for things like touch-ups during commercial breaks.
“It might have like, a mint or whatever it is,” Guthrie shared before stating that she and Melvin “realized that all of the trays, they were all Hoda’s stuff.”
“And it was like, one contact, and expired bean dip and belly button lint, and all this stuff,” Guthrie said with a teasing scowl before sharing that Melvin thought all of the items were Guthrie’s.
“I go ‘none of this is mine! Not on her side, not on my side.’ So, we just threw it right out, I sent her a video,” shared Guthrie.
Fallon then prompted the video to play, which showed Guthrie speaking directly to the camera to say “oh, hey girl, guess you didn’t want any of this,” as she dumped the contents of the tray into a trash can. “Love you,” Guthrie then said to Kotb as the video ended.
